Storm In A Tea Cup

Former owner of the Pirates, Bill Elliot, has made an unwarranted outburst in the Paisley Daily Express over a rumoured change of the team name. It's a non-story.

The fact is that the name of the Club had already been changed to Braehead Paisley Pirates before the current management team took over. We received a phone call from Braehead management only last week advising us that permission was never granted by them. This has led to repercussions - and the Club has been told by Braehead management that their name must be removed from the Club title immediately.

Accordingly, the Club has complied and apologised to Braehead for the unauthorised action taken by the previous imcumbents.

It has become apparent that Mr Elliot continues to use his best endeavours in attempts to undermine the current owners of the Club - for reasons best known to himself.

For the avoidance of doubt, Mr Elliot no longer holds any position or entitlement in the Club, which was suggested in a previous newspaper article when he was described as 'Club President'. This is NOT the case as he severed all ties with the Pirates when he walked out.

We wish to repeat, for the benefit of all those who prefer to ignore previous statements, that there has been absolutely NO decision made regarding the team name other than we will always be called Pirates as I keep saying - but there are some who choose to ignore this for whatever reason.

There are much more serious issues to be addressed that will affect the future of the Club.

If Mr Elliot still believes he can run the Club better than the current management team, he is welcome to come forward to do so rather than try to do it through newspaper columns
